How do you conserve energy in your home?

In many places this time of year, it can be very cold or sweltering hot. Heating and cooling our homes is one of the largest sources of energy use for many families, particularly in times of extreme weather. Additionally, energy costs are rising. For both financial and environmental reasons, a transition to clean energy (as promoted by UN Sustainable Development Goal #7) is important, but we also need to supplement this transition with more efficient use of energy and reduced energy usage where possible.
Certain types of window coverings are one way to help insulate a home from both extreme heat and severe cold. Do you want to test it out for yourself or with your young learners? Our co-founder, Jess, created a simple yet really effective experiment to practice making a prediction and testing your hypothesis while also seeing the impacts window coverings have on temperature stabilization in a home or living space. She even included a free printable that will walk your students through the steps.
